De-clutter & Popcorn Tins

I just re-cleaned 3 empty popcorn tins. Absolutely nothing in any of them. Well – two are the popcorn tins, one is a big cookie tin. It’s a bit wider than the popcorn tin. I thought about putting them back in the bathroom to hold extra toilet paper, but I think the lid might be too hard for dd to open. I cannot get all of the tape off one of the cans.
So while searching to see what other uses they can be used for, I found these:

Grab some fabric that you have, and wrap it around it. Sheer of the excess edges with your scissors. Tack the fabric down with your glue gun and do the top of the tins lid the same way. From here you can leave it the way it is or embellish it with ribbon to clean up the edges, use that kids embossing bottle paint to write on top of the lid the future contents, such as “Salt” or “Toys” etc. And fill with what you like! I personally use it for my salt bases for bath salt making. Place a scoop in there and all set!

While in general that may be a neat idea, I won’t use fabric on the bathroom tins, because if the toilet floods again, it’ll just get ruined. I try to stay away from bubble baths and salts (I will use Epsom Salt, if needed) because of UTI (urinary tract infection). We could use it as a wastebasket, but we already have one in the bathroom.

For outside the bathroom uses for popcorn tins:
Holding Christmas decorcations
Storing cookie cutters
Storing yarn (other ways to store yarn)
Gardening Tools

If I really want to change the picture on the outside of the tin, dd could tear up tissue paper and glue it on, or even use cut up magazine pictures. Then we could cover it in modge podge or shelac.

We might even be able to cut apart her Harry Potter lego boxes! Cut out different things she wants kept from the box (like the front picture, which piece goes with which set, etc), glue or tape down a sheet protector on the inside sidewall (to put the directions in), and put those legos in there!

Still have to check the first aid kit.
